Chris and I always make a point to try local coffee shops when we travel. Most of the time this is an in-the-moment decision based on where we are for the day or where we may travel to later that day. This time after some searching Chris found King Donuts.

King Donuts is a cute little shop in a strip mall in Corbin Kentucky. Upon entering the bright yellow shop accentuated a glass case full of delicious-looking donuts. The shops single employee was extremely nice and very accommodating, helping me to figure out out drink orders while I tried to wake up.
While the donut selection was small, I loved that they had both cake and yeast donuts. We ordered two chocolate iced donuts, a chocolate cake donut, and a jelly-filled donut. Chris also got himself a pig in a blanket, which at this shop is a larger than life sausage compared to the ones we make at home with lil' smokies. We also got a caramel and a hazelnut coffee.
One of the most exciting parts of this shop is when ordering a filled donut. You get your choice of lemon or raspberry filled and then it is filled as its ordered. Its a personal touch that I love.
The donuts were fluffy and light and not overly sweet and The coffee was delicious, just sweet enough, and had a great caramel-to-coffee ratio. We all enjoyed our breakfast treats. I am so glad this is the little shop we decided to try this go around! We'll definitely be stopping in again when we are in Corbin, KY again.
